Woody Woodpecker Does ‘Dragnet’

“You need more tonic, boy”

One of the most memorable Woody Woodpecker animated shorts is ‘Under the Counter Spy,’ a neat spoof on Dragnet. I have to admit, this is one of the darker Woody Woodpecker cartoons and downright creepy at times! Still, it’s a classic and very enjoyable!

hahahhah….that was great! I want to order some of that tonic….lemme check eBay. It does look like it’s addictive though. I also want a job like those detectives, ha! And I liked Wagner playing when Woody WP was all pumped up.

    Thelma,

Glad you enjoyed it! I have a special place in my heart for this animated short, as well as Woody’s other classic – “If Woody had gone right to the police, this never would have happened!”

Who am I kidding? Woody always delivers a classic! ;-)

Once again, I have to distinguish myself from you two. Aside from the always bracing presence of Dragnet, Woody Woodpecker just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s because I keep being reminded of the great Warner Bros. cartoons that put these efforts to shame!

    Jaytee,

Warner Brothers animated shorts are my personal favorite, too. I never cared for Disney characters or animation much, except for my favorite Disney character Uncle Scrooge McDuck and the little pocket world of the Disney Universe that he and his galaxy of characters inhabit.

Woody’s ok, though. He isn’t an A-List animation star, but he holds his own. He also has a mean streak now and then, which is always good to see in funny characters!
