UK Man upset that he didn’t die, as diagnosed

Ain’t that a kick in the head?

So a year or so ago the doctors told this guy that he only had a few weeks to live.  So he gives away all his money, but wouldn’t you know it, the doctors were wrong and he keeps on tickin’!

So of course, he sues the doctors – because he didn’t die!

The Times of London reports…

Andy Lees to sue after being wrongly told he was dying

A grandfather who gave away his life savings after terminal cancer was diagnosed is to sue his local health authority after it transpired that the diagnosis was incorrect.

Andy Lees, 72, from Blackburn, West Lothian, gave away his £12,000 savings to friends and family. He also spent a further £6,500 on his funeral.

However, a year after their initial diagnosis, doctors at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, told him that he is in fact suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung condition that causes a narrowing of the airways. Although he is seriously ill, he is not dying.

Now Mr Lees, a former miner, says that the mistake has left him penniless. “I couldn’t believe it. I gave away my life savings because I didn’t think I would need them. We just presumed that the doctor would be right. Now I am broke,” he said.

NHS managers said that they were investigating the mix-up. Charles Swainson, from NHS Lothian, said: “While we are pleased that Mr Lees does not have a terminal illness, we would apologise again for the distress it has caused to him and his family.”
