Lost in Space: Astronaut fumbles through purse
Butterfingers!

Astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper
STS-126
“Oh, great…”
I gotta laugh that at the core of this story, we essentially have a woman fumbling through her purse and dropping something.
We’ve seen it a million times, but this time it was part of Space Shuttle Mission STS-126, and she dropped her item in low-earth orbit!
Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper – “Oh, great. We have a lost tool, uh, I guess one of my crew (air)lock bags was not transferred and it’s loose.”
Kimbrough – “OK, Heide, crew lock bag?”
Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper – “Yeah, See it?”
Kimbrough – “Yeah, we see it,”
“Yeah, we see it.”

I saw this on the news this a.m. and I thought uh-ohhhhh! I’m glad she had a co-worker! I’m wondering why they don’t strap these on by some means?
Butterfingers!
I like how she asks Mission Control “see it?” and they are like, “Yeah, we see it.”
This made me laugh. That would have happened to me in her spaceshoes.
Hahaha!
The worst thing is, her cell phone and car keys were in that bag! You know, When I first heard this story, it was claimed that she lost her grip because a grease gun exploded. Looks like someone was trying to cover for her . . . .
Yea, I heard that exploding grease gun story, too. Seems to me she was just being a girl… ;-)
