I Guess You Had To Have Been There
Since we’ve been on a Star Trek kick lately, I thought I’d share one of the true jewels of my collection, the lovely Nichelle Nichols and her stirring rendition of the theme to Star Trek, with the seldom-heard vocals.
Actually I think there are several different sets of vocals, and this is just the one Nichelle recorded. In any event, sit back and enjoy, and hang on for dear life for the final note!

Where’s Simon when we need him? ;-P
Nichelle did an outstanding job! Her rendition not only moved my heart, but also cleared my sinuses.
hahahahaha…..She’s pretty to look at, but that voice! Aaaaa–OOOOOHHH!!!!
It was indeed a joy to hear, but unfortunately, I was holding a refreshing but fragile glass of iced tea while listening, and now I’ve got to find a mop! Also, a number of neighborhood mutts seem to have congregated outside my window!
V.V., this truly was exciting stuff. Is there any chance there’s a Capt. Sisko rap version of this somewhere?
Jaytee,
It’s really a mystery why Nichelle’s singing career didn’t really take off. She must have been spending too much time in the 1970s at Star Trek conventions, and back then the stars at least had the dignity to not charge money for their signature! A much better time!
I’ll get to work on that Captain Sisko rap recording!
Vinnie Vegas: You are a marvel to be sure, do share more of these marvelous memories….and I believe you shall.
JFK,
I will keep ‘em coming!
WOW! The Mariah Carey of the 60′s!
Glad you dig it!
