It’s a Marshmallow World!

One of my favorite Christmas songs, courtesy of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra!

A Marshmallow World Lyrics
Songwriters: Carl Sigman, Peter De Rose

It’s a marshmallow world in the winter
When the snow comes to cover the ground
It’s the time for play
It’s a whipped cream day
I wait for it the whole year around

Now those marshmallow clouds being friendly
In the arms of the ever-green-trees
And the sun is red like a pumpkin head
It’s shining so your nose won’t freeze

Oh’ the world is the snowball, see how it grows
That’s how it goes
Whenever it snows
The world is the snowball just for a song
So get up and roll it along

It’s a yumm yummy world made for sweet hearts
Take a walk with your favorite girl
It’s a sugar date what if spring is late
In winter it’s a marshmallow world

(It’s a marshmallow world in the winter)
(When the snow comes to cover the ground)
It’s the time for play
It’s a whipped cream day
I wait for it the whole year around

(Those marshmallow clouds being friendly)
(In the arms of the ever-green-trees)
And the sun is red like a pumpkin head
It’s shining so your nose won’t freeze

Oh’ the world is the snowball, see how it grows
That’s how it goes
Whenever it snows
The world is the snowball just for a song
So get up and roll it along

It’s a yumm yummy world made for sweet hearts
Take a walk with your favorite girl
It’s a sugar date, what if spring is late
In winter it’s a marshmallow world

It’s a marshmallow world
It’s a snow covered world
It’s yummy, yummy world
It’s a marshmallow world

    Merry Christmas Vinnie Vegas!

And “It’s a Marshmallow World,” is one of my very all-time favorite Chrismtas songs too but I am very partial to the Johnny Mathis version, yet…this great video with Dino and Frank (what a pair) you have posted tickles me Christmassy all over! Thanks very much.

    Vinnie Vegas;
Just another addy here….why oh why and where oh where have all these types of wonderful shows left TV land? I can never forget the wonderful variety shows etc on TV for all occasions with the best programming ever to fit the occasion and best viewing for the whole family to gather and enjoy. They are sorely missed by so many people that I speak with.

Time marches on I well know but for me; I am stuck somewhat on what used to be the very best.

      NWberry,

Glad you liked it! For some reason, ‘It’s a Marshmallow World’ has been relegated to third tier status (at best) in the Christmas songbook. A shame – it’s one of my personal favorites and has been for decades.

I always planned for ‘It’s a Marshmallow World’ to be the lead track of the Christmas Album I will record someday! ;-)

I knew you would prefer the Mathis version – it is outstanding!

As for shows like this, I’d be happy if they just re-ran these shows, over and over…

NWberry, I’m stuck there with you, too. I am melancholy for what once was.

Good grief, I can tell that this song is going to get stuck in my head and I’m going to be singing it when I go pick my daughter up. >:-/

Now I know where the inspiration for the Candy Man came from.

‘A Christmas Gift For You’ from Phil Spector is one of my favorite Christmas albums of all time, though it is interesting to note that it was considered a relative failure when it was released.

A major strike against the album was just plain old bad luck – it was released on November 22, 1963, the same day as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The album includes one of my favorite versions of ‘Sleigh Ride,’ by The Ronettes.

In later years, the album grew in popularity and now is rightfully is considered a holiday classic.

Pardon me,I’m late replying, I know it’s New Year’s Eve, Eve but I don’t remember hearing this song and or album at Christmastime. But I was saved by the bell so- to-speak. I had arrived in Bavaria Germany that October and AFN (American Forces Network Radio) was a bit on the boring side with programming so poor it was unreal, so I relied on all my LP’s I had shipped from the states and I shipped a whole bunch thank goodness!

In our tiny but beautiful area in Bavaria our tiny PX received about two to three albums per month @ 99 cents per album and believe it or not at least one of those LP’s usually one would be a new Johnny Mathis release…thus my sanity was almost saved in that “outliner” place. Of course, the other ‘one or two’ LP’s would be the current country singers to appease those Green Beret’s.

Living here in the Northwest we are either behind the times for hearing this song played or way ahead not to have it played, you decide. ;-)

    I like the song though!

Happy New Year with Health and Wealth to All!
