Kryptonite Nevermore!
DC was making changes back in the late 60s and early 70s, a welcome development since they honestly hadn’t made many changes since the 1940s. Their comic line was old, stale, and boring, clearly geared to youngsters. Marvel Comics, on the other hand, had made great strides in the 60s and created a vibrant product that appealed to both children and adults.
One of DC’s changes was tweaking Superman a bit. No longer just a reporter for the Daily Planet, he did double duty as a news anchor on TV station WGBS His regular cast of characters was expanded a bit. Oh, and in Superman #233 they got rid of Kryptonite as the weakness of The Man of Steel.

Thelma, no shots necessary. I have this issue and I think some kind of atomic bomb test caused a chain reaction will the atomic structure of all Kryptonite on the planet, making its radiation harmless to Superman.
I don;t think this lasted all that long. Only a few years later new Kryptonite landed on earth and its radiation was still lethal to Superman.
In recent decades they have changed it so much I have no patience for the continuity. If the comic companies themselves don’t value the continuity, why should any fans value it?
Well, no more Kryptonite, but I’m sure that weakness of Superman’s has been replaced today by crippling liberal guilt. He’s helpless before it!
True! He is the most powerful man on the planet, but what can he do to remedy the horror of women earning only 83 cents for every dollar a man makes? He can move mountains, but how can he solve the environmental issues that give young school kids nightmares.
That’s one reason to prefer Batman: he just clobbers the bad guys. Works for me!
True! And unless things have changed, I believe Bruce Wayne is also a solid consumer of floozies. I’m sure he’s sensitive enough, though, to provide cab fare!
Bruce Wayne is a fine role model, brother! Especially as conceived by Mr. Adam West!
