Kung Fu Fighting British Singer Arrested On Grounds Of Racial Aggravation

A ‘Kung Fu Fighting’ singer in Britain has been arrested on the grounds of racial aggravation after apparently offending two passers-by of Chinese origin with his rendition.

British man Simon Ledger says he fears he will end up with a criminal record for performing the 1974 disco classic at a seafront bar on the Isle of Wight in the UK on Sunday, reports The County Press.

The 34-year-old, who lives in Shanklin, regularly features Carl Douglas’ 1974 number one hit in his set when he performs at the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown.

But, after striking up the melody in front of customers at the weekend, he noticed a man of Chinese origin walking past with his mother, making gestures at him and taking a picture on his mobile phone.

Later on Sunday evening, Mr Ledger was dining at the Dragon Pearl Chinese restaurant in Shanklin when he received a call from the police saying they wanted to meet him.

He was then arrested and bailed pending further enquiries, The County Press reports.

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson confirmed, “A 34-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm or distress under section 4A of the Public Order Act 1986.”

As a result of his arrest, Mr Ledger has found himself on the front page of British national newspaper The Sun today.

Mr Ledger told The Sun, “We were performing ‘Kung Fu Fighting,’ as we do during all our sets. People of all races were loving it, Chinese people have never been offended before.”

Ledger continued, “I honestly cannot believe how much this has been blown out of all proportion. The last thing I want is to be portrayed as a racist because I certainly am not.”

Singing and performing for more than 20 years, Mr Ledger has played on cruise ships in the past.

He also starred on former British entertainer Michael Barrymore’s popular TV program, ‘My Kind of Music’ several years ago.

The performer said he “couldn’t believe it when I was actually arrested,” reports the County Press.

The Love God?: “Mr. Peacock, Mr. Peacock”

On the eve of the eve of the State of the Union Address tonight (to be given by Barack Obama, star of The Barack Obama Show) I’m reminded of one of my favorite films, The Love God?, starring one of my favorite funny men, Don Knotts.

Don’t make the connection? Well, The Love God? was made in 1969 as a Don Knotts vehicle. Don plays Abner Audubon Peacock, the publisher of a fading bird-watcher’s magazine named Peacock Magazine which a sleazy promoter named Osborn Tremaine (played by Edmond O’Brien) converts into a hip nudie magazine. This catapults the new Peacock Magazine into a national phenomenon, so they need the publisher (Knotts) to play their Hugh Hefner character in order to give the franchise a personality.

The only problem is that Mr Peacock is in reality an awkward, square character, not suited to the free love scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s. No problem, really: threw shrewd media manipulation they manage to convince the American public that the awkward, shy, and unglamorous Abner Peacock. And from there forward, the sky is the limit!

Remind you of anyone we know?

In my favorite scene from the film, Abner (now the free love icon of the era) is honored by fawning, gullible elites, who are too dim to realize that their ‘Mr Peacock’ is a figment of their imaginations. The showstopper features the beautiful Darlene Love with The Blossoms on backup vocals, the keen musical sound of Orange Colored Sky, a half dozen leggy showgirls, and a dancing Don Kotts. In other words, there’s no way this musical number can be improved upon!

Holy endorsement, Batman!

The star of the campy 1960s “Batman” TV series swooped into Gotham yesterday to boost a Democratic contender for state attorney general ahead of tonight’s cliffhanger ending to the primary race.

Adam West, now 81 and living in Idaho, lent his sonorous voice to automated phone calls boosting prosecutor-turned-trial-attorney Sean Coffey for the Democratic Party’s nod to succeed Andrew Cuomo as the state’s top lawyer.

The actor famous for his cheesy, melodramatic delivery and lumpy physique channeled his classic role as the Dark Knight to assure Democrats that Coffey is the “best crime fighter” in the crowded five-way race.

“I know a thing or two about keeping Gotham City safe,” West told voters on a 45-second recorded message. “Sean is an independent voice who wants to fight those villains in Albany.”

Coffey first teamed up with West a few years back while fly fishing in Idaho’s Silver Creek, and the duo has since forged a dynamic friendship.

“I came to the conclusion Sean Coffey’s not only a good guy, but a clear thinker,” West told The Post. “I’ve been a pretend crime-fighter for years. Now, we’ve got a potential real one with him.”

The heroic assist came as voters prepared to narrow the field in key statewide races and numerous congressional and state Legislature posts.

But In light of the recent controversy surrounding Tiger Woods’ car crash, there are likely more ways in which the President may wish to distinguish himself from the golf star.

The article lists ten things that the President could learn from the ultra-successful golf star in improving his performance as president, and vice versa, from the perspective of several prominent writers and players.

The magazine cover is a photoshopped image of Tiger Woods in a caddy’s outfit posed behind President Obama as he judges a putt.

One of the major lessons that President Obama could learn from Woods is his ability to quickly recover under pressure after a bad hole or two under pressure, writes prominent golf star Arnold Palmer.

“Woods is a good role model — not because he would make a good president (he wouldn’t and neither would Phil Mickelson or anyone else who has spent his working life traveling between driving ranges on private jets), but because he is such a complete master of his talents and ambitions, and because he has always been able to pull himself together after setbacks that would have ruined the rounds, or even the careers, of lesser players,” Palmer says.

Barack Obama’s shills went around telling anyone that would listen that he was a supremely cerebral man, and in fact an accomplished law school professor. Well, like many things about old Barry, when you actually check his resume you discover that his giddy white liberal advocates overstated things, again! Turns out he was never a full professor, and not even an assistant or adjunct professor, but rather a lecturer.

But evidently he doesn’t know much about the law, and the presumption of innocence in particular, when he casually announces that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be convicted and executed, but later realizes that his comments could be seen as swaying the potential jury pool and jeopardizing the US Government’s criminal case against KSM.

Obama: “I don’t think it will be offensive at all when he’s convicted and when the death penalty is applied to him.”

Obama: “Look — what I said was people will not be offended IF that’s the outcome. I’m not pre-judging, I’m not going to be in that courtroom, that’s the job of prosecutors, the judge and the jury.”

Like so much in Barry’s life, his excuse doesn’t hold water. Clearly, he didn’t say ‘if,’ but when. Now the white liberal peanut gallery has to go out and plausibly explain how their fearless leader didn’t say what he clearly said.

Leave it to some wide-eyed liberal doctor – who has been in general practice for four years – to get up at one of Rep Shelia Jackson Lee’s Town Hall Meetings and lob a softball question!

The problem is that our friends at the Patterico’s Pontifications blog did a little digging, and found out that the self-described ‘general practitioner’ has no medical degree and no medical practice.

The Lone Star Times dug deeper and revealed that, while Roxana Mayer isn’t a doctor, she certainly is a Barack Obama campaign volunteer. The Lone Star Times managed to get this confession out of Mayer:

Our own David Jennings secured a phone interview, in which Mayer admitted to impersonating a physician, saying — get this — she thought it would help her credibility. (It didn’t.)

Patterico’s Pontifications managed to get this screen capture from The Houston Chronicle’s report of the event, capturing the moment when Mayer and Rep Lee evidently find true love.

After some third-party fact checking and digging (it’s called journalism), The Houston Chronicle changed the caption and identified her as Roxana Mayer, sans “a pediatric primary care physician.”
