“The Gift of the Magi” by way of Lorne Greene
A Classic Never Goes Out of Style!
Well, three of my favorite things on God’s green earth are Christmas, O Henry stories, and Mr. Lorne Greene. Then again, who doesn’t rank those three things high on their own personal list?
It brings me great pleasure that these three things converge in a wonderful record album released around 1965. So for your listening holiday pleasure, kick back and enjoy Mr. Greene’s reading of this classic Christmas tale!

Vinnie, this is an all time favorite of mine. Thanks for posting. I shall try to sit my teenagers round the ‘puter to listen to it. I hope they won’t move about too much while I tie them to their chairs. lol
Thelma,
Mr. Lorne Greene never lets us down! Glad you enjoyed it and I hope your kids did, too!
What a great tune! Lorne Greene is a fav of mine. Many thanks Vinnie Vegas! All the best, Carlo (from the bridge)
Carlo,
It seldom gets better than Mr Lorne Greene!
I was so over joyed when I found this on here. This was something we would listen to every year at Christmas time. My parents had this album and so it was played (a lot). I have shared this with my children as well. I must say listening to this right now, takes me way back t some wonderful memories. No one can relay this as well as he does.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this. I would love o have it on a CD
You’re very welcome and I am so happy that you enjoyed this! I am big fan of the recording, O’Henry, and Mr. Greene, so to me this is a genuine classic! Merry Christmas!
It gave me chills to listen to this recording again after so many years. Do you know where it can be found on CD, I have searched everywhere. Thanks, Merry Christmas!
I agree this was always one of our family’s favorites too. Somehow in moving several times we lost or misplaced this album. I went on a hunt for a CD to no avail. I bought the album from e-bay in 2008(Jeff Minton) with shipping and handling it was $9.00 and had copies made on a CD for me our 3 daughters. They grew up listening to this wonderful O’Henry story and The Holy Night, A Christmas Cantata.
We are very happy about finding the album and the surprise CD ‘s for stocking presents.
I wish you the best in locating an album too. The albums can be pricey but I wanted to replace mine and was willing to make the sacrifice. Sent it to FerrisMastering.com, 6640 Ridgeville St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217 who can make CD’s. The total for 4 copies was under $50.
