George McGovern Abandons Hillary, Endorses Obama

Best News I have heard in a while!

That old fossil, George McGovern (finally recovering from the beatdown he suffered at the hands of Richard M. Nixon back in 1972), crawled out of his hole earlier today and saw his shadow! Political junkies know that this means at least another six weeks of Democrat primaries.

KSFY reports

Fmr. Sen. George McGovern Switches His Support

By Robert Wilson

A day before Senator Hillary Clinton is scheduled to visit Sioux Falls for a campaign rally, a long time Clinton supporter is backing someone else.

Former Presidential Candidate and South Dakota Senator George McGovern now says he will support Senator Barack Obama.

McGovern told KSFY telling President Bill Clinton about his decision was tough and he expects talking to Hillary will be very painful.

Senator McGovern said he’s thought about switching his support for sometime, but never felt it was the right time to do so until the results from North Carolina and Indiana came in.

In the name of unifying the party behind Barack Obama, McGovern says Hillary Clinton should step aside.

It’s just gotta’ hurt when George McGovern tells you that you can’t win.

“I don’t want to diminish the feeling I have for Hillary Clinton..she’s one of the most intelligent women in this country today,” said Fmr. Sen. George McGovern.

McGovern says it was the way Sen. Obama has planned his campaign and gathered grassroots support. He compares the Illinois Senator’s bid to his own run for the White House in 1972.

From your lips to God’s ears, Sir!

“Nobody thought I had a prayer. Who is this Junior Senator from South Dakota?” said Sen. McGovern.

He was (and is) an obnoxious nobody, and he was (and is) a loser.

And in Obama, McGovern says he sees something special. Something that makes Senator Obama worthy of being compared to someone else from Illinois: Abraham Lincoln.

“I’ve held that bar about as high as you can get it to think you might be another Abraham Lincoln,” said Sen. McGovern.

Interesting! Obama reminds me of….George McGovern!

That’s what friends are for…’that’ kind of friend (fiend) anyway.I saw this announcement on the news this morning and I was very happy that I don’t have these types of fiend friends. Albeit, I am not in the race for President of the United States either.

Hilly can take it though she has feathers for her rainy day friends and I dare to state her friends must have feathers too and other huge defensive mechanisms.

I expect McGovern to make slobbering remarks about Bar, McGovern’s political successes are not paticularily standout-ish and he is easily impressed and easily persuaded to drop ‘friends,’ to suit whatever needs. What can I say?

Any day now I expect to see Bar wearing a stove top hat and a rather long black beard but I’ll bet he can’t recite the Gettysburg address.

NWberry,

It warms my heart and reassures me to know that a classic loser like McGovern has decided to back Barry Obama! Here’s to Obama enjoying the same kind of election ’success’ as his new found advocate George “520-17″ McGovern!

You know, why would anyone care what this all-time loser, and (by the looks of that picture) escapee from a Romero zombie flick, thinks at this point? And Obama = Lincoln?? With judgment like that, his time would be better spent kissing up to Hamas with Carter!

Jaytee,

Good gravy, what kind of sicko editor would think that anything from George McGovern qualifies as ‘news’ in 2008?

And the comparison to Lincoln is absurd. But it speaks volumes for that famous McGovern judgment! HINT: It’s not flattering!

The only reason I gave this McGovern issue a “hoot & a holler” which does not mean I necessarily care much; is that anyone who throws Hillary “under the bus” I want it shouted from the roof tops because it could possibly be another feather lost from her cap (or her cape of hope) from becoming president of my beloved country. Don’t forget how much she cares or ‘did care’ (Ha-ha-ha) for this misfit and he was her great friend and a mentor.

For me, every time she loses anything or anyone politically, I gain much. Personally stating I don’t wish her any harm; politically, as long as she holds any office, I feel harmed and quite offended. I’m just stating one of my worthless menial opinions in a large world of the masses.

NWberry,

It’s gotta hurt when George McGovern tells you that you can’t win, so Hilly must be really feeling the sting of failure! That sting is punctuated by the fact that she and her crew had such a strong expectation of victory.

I don’t blame people for bailing on the Good Ship Hilly - but in the back of my mind, I still wonder what trick she and her no-goodnick husband have up their sleeves.
