Dr. Reed Richards Builds A Mechanical Marvel!
One of the films I am looking forward to this coming summer is the sequel to the fun & funny ‘Fantastic Four’ film, ‘FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer.’ It promises to bring to life the legendary Lee-Kirby ‘Galactus Trilogy’ from FF # 48-50! Debuting in this film will be the FF’s versatile ‘Fantasticar.’

Works for me! The FF I always loved was about exciting, escapist fun, and The Fantasticar sure looks like exciting, escapist fun! You can read more about it in today’s USA Today - just click on this link!

Looks good! The USA Today article said the FantastiCar rates up there with the Batmobile and Ghostrider’s motorcycle as the wheels of choice, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the FC actually hit the road. As far as I can recall, it’s always flown! I always thought calling it a car was a bit of a misnomer. . . .

I’m not nearly the FF expert you are, Jaytee, but my best recollections are that the Fantasticar usually zipped around town by floating in the air. It may even have amphibious qualities, but I admit I can’t recall. I do know it is a relatively short-range vehicle - just for bopping around Manhattan and the nearby region as the FF needed it for missions! I gotta say, I am a huge Spider-Man fan since the early 1970s but for summer of 2007, I’m much more excited about the FF sequel!

The Fantasticar would be ideal for South Florida’s traffic!

Yep, like I said, I’ve never seen it on the road. As I recall, they’ve taken their heap into the Negative Zone on at least one occasion (Let’s see the Batmobile do that!), so it’s definitely built for long distance trips. It probably has very high-tech cupholders! I don’t recall off the top of my head, but I’d bet anything that it’s good for visiting Namor, too.
