Scarlett Johansson Takes a Stand

I certainly am not an advocate for top Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson wearing clothes! In fact, the less clothes she wears, the better! But it was recently reported that she took an odd stand in regards to her doing nude scenes in her films.

MSNBC’s Gossip Columnist Jeannette Walls reports:

Scarlett Johansson was furious when she was told to wear a bra during a bed scene in “The Island,” according to the director of the flick. “Scarlett said, ‘I’m not wearing this bra. I’m going naked,’” Michael Bay told the London Mirror. “And I said, ‘Scarlett, you can’t go naked — this film is PG!’” Johansson explained, “They wanted me to wear a bra when I woke up. Nobody sleeps in bras — except maybe French women.”

I like Scarlett - she really brings a lot to the table as an actress, and in some other ways I can think of. I am still struggling to figure out what her larger point is, though! Whatever it is, I am certain I will agree with her!

I got a real kick out of David Zucker’s great political campaign advertisement where he really takes the Democrats to task for their worldview. While a bit hammy, the ad is in the tradition of the great comedies Zucker has helped create - Airplane, Police Squad. and more!

Oops! That’s a REAL picture of Clinton Era SOS Maddie Halfbright…I mean, Albright, and her close pal, global loony tune and Jerry Lewis character Kim Jong Il! Zucker parodies it nicely - just take a look and enjoy!

Amazing Armor, Iron Man

Some news on the Iron Man film project that has been kicking around for several years now. The jury is still out on this one, but let’s give it a chance!

Academy award nominee Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow) has been cast as Tony Stark’s confidant, Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes. Howard will be joining Robert Downey Jr. who is set to portray Tony Stark and Iron Man.

Also, on July 22, 2006 at the San Diego Comic-Con, director Jon Favreau confirmed that the villain for the upcoming film would be The Mandarin. He also announced that, “The suit will be more like a weapons platform than a flying suit – more of a War Machine-feel to it.”

Word is the movie will help kick off the Summer 2008 movie season when it opens on May 2, 2008.

I don’t have either a good feeling nor a particularly bad feeling about this project based on what we know so far. I can’t say that Robert Downey Jr. matches my vision for Tony Stark, but I’m willing to give it a chance! I guess we will all find out in 2008!
